Amazon Studios
The first few months of Quarantine were some of the most uncertain times in all our lives. A few months in, since all the theaters had closed, Amazon Studios made a pivot to experiment with Drive-In movie series, then started premiering their new films at Drive in Theaters.
Under the leadership of our frequent collaborator, Normal Productions, we would capture the event, and then rush back and turn an edit around by the following morning.
Beyond being a fun challenge, and work when many had none, the spirits of the attendees being able to get out in the world even for a short moment, would live us up every time. Their joy became our primary focus of our storytelling around these events.
The events continued to evolve, including the transition from large blow up screens and bulb-based projection systems, to giant LED wall screens that were larger and more vibrant and clear than most theaters I’ve attended.
